1982

Velvet Moon, a short-lived band (too short-lived for our taste).  Courtesy of Bob Spieler, on guitar in this photo.  The guest drummer is Bill Boichel, today of Copacetic Comics.
Windowpane arrived for this Election Day gig, found that the place couldn't open until the polls closed, and waited outside.  Photo by Alena Loiselle courtesy of Kurt Hoffman, lying on the sidewalk.  The others are, from left to right, Bob Michael, soundman Sam David, Doug Heaps, and Bob Loiselle.  Scroll down for another photo from this evening.

Windowpane rocks out an attentive audience at the Electric Banana on November 2, 1982.  The band earned $12 for a night's work.  Johnny Banana's favorite song was the 12-minute "Sam's Jam."  That's a dollar a minute for his favorite song.  Photo by Alena Loiselle courtesy of Kurt Hoffman.

Johnny Thunders posters and newspaper ads courtesy of Mike Psyche

Thunders famously failed to show for this gig.

This was one great show.

Cool buttons from Joe's personal collection.

1982 was a great year for concerts.  The Police and Bow Wow Wow played in April but there was nothing like Elvis Costello and the Clash on consecutive nights in August!  Talk Talk opened up for Costello.  Opening for the Clash was a group of soul/funk singers (forgot their name) that was rudely booed off the stage for daring to present something other than punk.  Nine days later, Steel Pulse appeared with Stick Against Stone opening.  Amazingly, the Clash returned on October 16 to perform at CMU with the Core opening.  Can't find that ticket stub anywhere!  Tickets from Joe's personal collection.
